Homemade Strawberry Compote. (Recipe)

What do you do when life gives you strawberries?

Simple. You make strawberry compote.
Strawberry season is here and it won’t be long before these plump juicy strawberries disappear from the market. So before its too late, make this easy to make, sweet & tangy and healthy dessert topping at home.

Ingredients
600g to 800g fresh strawberries.
Zest of half an orange.
Juice of half an orange.
2 tablespoon grain sugar.
1 cinnamon stick.
A pinch of salt.

Method:
Wash and hull the strawberries. Cut into halves. In a pan, add the above ingredients and cook on a medium low flame for about 10 minutes. Cool the compote and store in an airtight glass bottle or a mason jar. Store in a refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Uses.
Topping for desserts like ice creams, cakes, muffins.
Fruit spread over a crispy piece of toast or pancakes.
Blend with milk and cream to make thick shakes.
